Local context
Why people test in Canberra.
Canberra housing is largely recent and relatively sealed, which makes a screen kit a cleaner first answer here than it would be in a 1920s cottage.
The usual mistake is rushing a pre-purchase swab between inspections without covering the rooms that actually matter. Take the time to plan where the swabs go.

Which kit suits Canberra
Sealed modern surfaces sample evenly, so a screen kit is often enough for a private first look. Step up to multi-room if the property is older or larger than a standard unit.

Test it yourself, with a technician on the call.
Book a 30–45 minute session for sampling day. We guide you through which surfaces to choose, how to take the sample, and when a DIY result is not enough.

Because nobody is attending the property in Canberra, a guided call is the closest you can get to having a technician involved. They tell you which surfaces to sample, how much area to cover, and when a DIY result is not going to be enough.

Common questions
Testing in Canberra, answered.
Can you send a technician in the ACT?
Not yet. If an agency or a department has asked for a documented result, that is on-site work and we do not have a certified tester in the ACT. Order a kit only if the answer is for you.
Is a screen kit enough for a unit?
For a modern sealed unit, usually yes. It tells you whether residue is likely present. It will not give you a number or a document anyone else has to accept.
Will a DIY result be accepted in a dispute?
Assume not. Because you collect the samples yourself, a kit does not carry independent chain of custody, which is what ACAT (the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal) would generally expect. If a dispute is likely, you need a certified tester to attend, and we will say so rather than sell you a kit that cannot do the job.
