The house is Federation era. Where do the swabs go?
Not all in one room. Original paint and unsealed timber hold residue unevenly, so spread the sampling across the rooms that matter. Spread the swabs if you only want to do this once.
Will a DIY result be accepted in a dispute?
Assume not. Because you collect the samples yourself, a kit does not carry independent chain of custody, which is what NCAT (the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal) would generally expect. If a dispute is likely, you need a certified tester to attend, and we will say so rather than sell you a kit that cannot do the job.
